Four businesses and an educator were recognized this week during the 2017 Business, Industry and Education (BIE) Awards Banquet hosted by the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce.

These annual awards recognize and celebrate those that have contributed to the success of the community through business ownership, education, or leadership and service, said Sara Krouse, executive director for the chamber, during the banquet at the Hotel Stebbins.

The 2017 BIE Award winners:

Aesthetic Award: Timber Trail Campground, presented by Krouse.

Business Leadership: North Water Bakery and Deli, presented by Chamber Board member William Bluett, Door County Medical Center/Algoma.

Education Leadership: Lori Miller, St. Paul’s School, presented by Chamber Board President John Price, Bank of Luxemburg.

Family Award: Algoma Motors, presented by Ann Schmitz, A&L Services.

Industry Leadership: Algoma Lumber Co., presented by Jeff Dier, Forestville Builders.
