The Algoma City Council likely will have a full eight members again after its organizational meeting Tuesday evening.

James Barlow stepped down from his 3rd Aldermanic District seat this winter after he and his mother moved to Oshkosh.

Mayor Wayne Schmidt has been accepting letters of interest from candidates willing to serve out the second year of Barlow’s term through April 2018. The appointee would decide at that time whether to run for a full term.

Schmidt said last week that he hoped to have a candidate to present to the Council in time for the organizational meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Algoma City Hall, 416 Fremont St.
