Algoma Alderman James Barlow has resigned from the Algoma City Council, and the city is accepting letters of interest from residents interested in finishing his unexpired term.

The council is expected to appoint a candidate next month from applications submitted by qualified individuals living within Aldermanic District 3. The appointment term will cover a period from the date of appointment until the regular election in April 2018.

Interested people should submit a letter of interest to Algoma City Hall, Attn: Mayor Wayne R. Schmidt, 416 Fremont St., Algoma, WI 54201 by noon Monday, April 3. The District 3 boundaries are shown on the map above.

It is anticipated that the appointed candidate will be seated and sworn into office at the Common Council organizational meeting on Tuesday, April 18.
