The Algoma Community Band and the Lakeshore Singers have scheduled their 2017 Veterans Day Concert for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Algoma Performing Arts Center in Algoma Elementary School, 514 Fremont St.

The concert opens with the presentation of the flags by veterans followed by the community band playing well-known patriotic works, including “Victory at Sea” and “Midway,” directed by David Kopetsky. The “Armed Forces Salute” is a traditional piece including songs for all branches of the military. This annual favorite is directed by John Nielsen.

The Lakeshore Singers will follow by singing a number of patriotic songs. One of their energetic numbers is “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” arranged by John Rutter. Director David Robertson and Liz Melotte accompany the singers on this familiar piece, with audience participation.

Tom Mueller directs the band and David Robertson directs The Lakeshore Singers.

A reception will follow the concert in the school cafeteria. The concert is free and open to the public.
