The Kewaunee County Finance Committee has approved purchasing new swing sets and sandbox equipment for Red River County Park for up to $10,000, with the funds to be reimbursed by the Dyckesville Lions Club.

During the committee’s meeting Thursday, supervisors approved the purchase upon receipt of the club’s donation. The county’s share of the project will be providing machinery and labor to level the area for the playground equipment and to assist with installation, according to background information provided to the committee by Parks Director Dave Myers.

The old swing sets were removed about three years ago when the existing playground was constructed in partnership with the club, Myers said. By making the purchase through the county, then getting reimbursement through the club, the Lions save some money that can be used toward this and future park improvements.
