The Kewaunee County Finance and Public Property Committee will review a proposal for a new county email system when it meets Thursday morning, March 9.
Information Services Director Ross Loining is proposing that the county upgrade from the GroupWise8 system that was installed in 2008 to Microsoft Office 365.
“GroupWise has been a very solid platform that has served us well,” Loining said in his proposal while recommending the Microsoft system, which he said would cost about $12,875 annually as opposed to $24,565 for GroupWise 2014. He also reviewed Google Mail and Exchange/Outlook as possible options.
The County Board provided the I.T. Department with $12,000 in the 2015 budget to upgrade to GroupWise 2014, but on further review Microsoft Office 365 is the best option for Kewaunee County, Loining said.
In other business, the committee will consider a proposal to install a “magic carpet” ski lift system at Winter Park to replace the tow rope currently used on the tube hill. The cost would be $109,904 payable over five years.
Committee members will also hear a review of how recent bond issues have fared.
The county Finance and Public Property Committee meets at 8 a.m. Thursday in the conference room of the Kewaunee County Administration Center, 810 Lincoln St., Kewaunee.
