The Luxemburg Speedway cards for Friday, Aug. 4 and Aug. 11, were canceled Thursday, with the organizers citing poor weather conditions and the speedway’s financial health.
“It has been a rough year for our track,” Ron Cochrane and Eric Mahlik posted on the Speedway’s website and Facebook page. “Sponsorship is down, car counts are down and, most importantly, our fan count has been cut in half in comparison to last season.”
The Speedway plans to finish the season with the Aug. 18 and Aug. 25 events, as they have committed to their sponsors, the announcement said.

Drivers – Fans – Sponsors,
Due to poor weather conditions and the financial health of the speedway, we are regretfully cancelling tomorrow night’s events as well as our August 11th Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Race.
It has been a rough year for our track. Sponsorship is down, car counts are down and, most importantly, our fan count has been cut in half in comparison to last season.
All of this combined, has stretched our budget beyond its limits and forced us to make some hard choices.
We will finish the 2017 Season with the August 18th and 25th event dates, as we have committed to our sponsors.
The John Soukup Memorial and the Quietwoods RV Stock Car Special has been rescheduled to run on August 18th and the final points night of the season will be August 25th.
We are currently unsure of our end of the year special as we have not gotten a sponsorship for that event.
We apologize for any inconvenience these cancellations cause our fans, sponsors, drivers and crews. We appreciate your continued support!
*Drivers – we will be sending out your checks from last week.
Ron & Eric
