Music, a silent auction, kids’ activities, food and beverages are all a part of a special event Saturday evening benefiting the proposed Kewaunee School District’s all-inclusive playground.
The benefit sponsored by and hosted at Lakehaven Hall, 96 Ellis St., Kewaunee, is scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday. The children’s activities run until 7:30 p.m.
Musical guests are Mockingbird from 5 to 7 p.m. and Jeff Stoeger from 8 to 10 p.m.
Fundraising has headed down the home stretch, with supporters working on the last $60,000 of a $200,000 goal to have a new playground at the Kewaunee Schools complex before school resumes, similar to the Miracle League playground in the village of Allouez.
Equipment has arrived and some of the work was done on the day after school closed for the summer, June 7, with the district’s facilities crew and Pagel’s Ponderosa providing manpower and equipment.
The Bank of Luxemburg held a cookout June 14 and contributed $1,225 to the cause.
