The cheesemaking Renard family is profiled in the latest edition of The Country Today.

When Howard Renard bought the Rosewood cheese plant on County Road S north of Algoma 56 years ago, all the cheese was raw milk and was made in two small vats in cramped quarters with living space attached.

“My one cooler used to be my grandparents’ living room until 1971 when they moved to a new house next door,” said Chris Renard, Howard’s grandson and the third generation of family to operate the plant just north of the Kewaunee-Door county line.
