The annual Rio Creek Fly-In and Hangar Dance is on schedule for Saturday at the Rio Creek Airport.
Hosted by the Don Walter family, which owns the airport, the event begins with a pancake and porkie breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and also includes kids’ activities and airplane rides, an antique car and tractor display, and a silent auction and raffle.
Lunch is served starting at 11 a.m. with burgers, brats, Belgian trippe, French fries and booyah. The Mark Jirikovec Polka Band is scheduled to perform from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Other local events to kick off the Independence Day weekend include the Ahnapee Brewery Kick-Off to Summer from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the brewery, 105 Navarino St., Algoma, featuring guest brewery O’So Brewing.
The second annual Kewaunee Clock Corner Celebration is set for Sunday, launching three days of activities that include the Brown Fest Fireworks display on Monday night and the Firecracker 5K Run/Walk on Tuesday, the Fourth of July.
