A presentation for Kewaunee County officials and residents about a scientific study of local well contamination has been scheduled for June 7.

“Presentation on the Well Testing Research Findings: Sources of Fecal Contamination in the Dolomite Aquifer in Northeastern Wisconsin” is planned for 6-8 p.m. June 7 at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds Exhibition Building, 625 Third St., Luxemburg.

Presenters are Mark Borchardt, USDA-Agricultural Research Service; Maureen Muldoon, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Department of Geology; and Randy Hunt, U.S. Geological Survey Wisconsin Water Science Center)

An ongoing study of well contamination in the county has found that roughly one-third of private wells tested are unsafe. The June 7 presentation is open to the public.
