The WIAA Division 2 and 3 individual state wrestling tournament got underway Thursday evening at the Kohl Center in Madison. Here’s how Kewaunee County wrestlers fared.

Luxemburg-Casco sent nine wrestlers to the Division 2 tournament:

106 – Lucas Joniaux earned a 7-0 decision over Ripon’s Bradley Gabrielski. The Spartans freshman (34-12) is slated to take on Jansen McClelland (40-10) in the second round Friday morning.

113 – Sophomore Bryce Bosman (43-3) drew a first-round bye and will wrestle Friday beginning with Jack Marley of Melrose-Mindoro/Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau (40-7), a junior who pinned his first-round opponent in 4:57.

120 – Reece Worachek’s freshman season came to an end with a 30-15 record, as he lost to Amery sophomore Mike Smith (31-4) in a fall at 1:16.

126 – Sophomore Nathan Rosman (37-9) had a first-round bye and faces Aidan Medora (36-3), a freshman for St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy/Brookfield Academy, who pinned his opponent in 1:30 Thursday night.

138 – Junior Cameron Lemmens (27-12) dropped a 6-1 decision to Hayward/Northwood junior Tim Coyne, who ran his season record to 31-2.

152 – Junior Devan Vandenbush (32-10) drew a first-round bye and takes on senior Sam Burzynski (39-4) of Stanley-Boyd/Owen-Withee.

170 – Veteran senior Dalton Smerchek (39-6) had a bye Thursday night. He faces freshman Tyler Hannah (43-7) of Viroqua, who pinned Amery senior Carl Oman (23-14) in 2:49.

220 – Nate Lloyd (38-13) downed Tucker Bender (35-12) of Ripon in a battle of juniors that went to a sudden victory round before Lloyd prevailed 3-1.

Heavyweight – Senior Phil Rasmussen (39-8) had a first-round bye. He will wrestle senior Adam Kinyon of Lomira, who earned a major decision over Mike Freund of Ellsworth 12-3 on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the Kewaunee Storm had three representatives in the Division 3 tournament:

120 – Cam Konop’s season ended at 34-8 as the Storm junior lost a 5-0 decision to Fennimore freshman Aidan Nutter (37-11).

126 – Junior Cam Hanrahan had a first-round bye on the strength of his 42-4 record. He will wrestle junior Andrew Gunderson (30-6) of Cadott, who won his first-round match by fall at 3:30.

138 – Jesse Steinhorst (38-8) also had a bye on Thursday. He starts action against Sammy VanStraten (38-3) of Shiocton, who won his Thursday night match with a 14-2 major decision.
