A northern Kewaunee County Catholic parish moved its Sunday morning Mass after a huge tree fell onto a church in the community of Lincoln.

The tree, which had grown and stood for decades in front of St. Peter Catholic Church along County Road S in Lincoln, was blown down during a severe thunderstorm that raced through the area Saturday evening.

The 10:15 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. Peter was moved to the parish’s other church, St. Hubert in nearby Rosiere.

The Rev. Edward Looney, the parish priest, posted on Facebook that the major casualty appeared to be the St. Peter stained-glass window in the choir loft, juat over the front door. The old tree blocked the front entrance and entry could only be made via the side door.
