A second death from coronavirus has been added to Kewaunee County statistics as of Monday (July 27).
The county has experienced a jump in positive tests for COVID-19, from a total of 59 on July 1 to 105 as of Tuesday (July 28). The statistics date to mid-March, when Gov. Tony Evers ordered schools and many small businesses to close and asked people to shelter in place. The county and state have been slowly reopening since mid-May.
Of the 105 positive tests, Kewaunee County Public Health is reporting 16 active cases and 87 recovered patients, in addition to the two deaths.
Specific information about the victims was not released officially, although the family of Luxemburg business leader Jerry Simonar, 87, confirmed that he died with COVID-19 in April.
