About 50 people took part in the “Hands Around” event in Kewaunee on Tuesday, to draw attention to the fight against sexual assault and child abuse.

They joined the Kewaunee County Department of Human Services, Kewaunee County Victim Witness Program and Violence Intervention Project at the second annual Hands Around Event, held outside the Human Services offices in Kewaunee.

The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department, City of Kewaunee Police and Fire departments also took part.

One more event related to Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month is scheduled for Saturday, May 5: A self-defense class from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Kewaunee High School, 911 Third St., Kewaunee.

The class is free to attend, but participants must be 12 or older. Waivers must be signed.
