The Algoma City Council has hired the assistant to the Bellevue village administrator as the new city administrator, effective Feb. 1.

Jared Heyn’s appointment was approved at the Council’s regular monthly meeting Monday (Jan. 6). Heyn has been with the village of Bellevue since August 2016.

Former administrator Jeff Wiswell retired last March and, rather than seek out a replacement immediately, the Council promoted Deputy Clerk Jamie Jackson and Deputy Treasurer Amber Schallow to clerk and treasurer, respectively, and waited until August to post the administrator position.

Heyn’s first day in the office will be Monday, Feb. 3. He will start at an annual salary of $60,000, which would get bumped to $65,000 after successful completion of a six-month probationary period, and enter the city pay scale at Step 1 after one year, Schallow said in response to an inquiry.
