Small Business Saturday is, by now, entrenched as an essential part of the Thanksgiving weekend. For the fifth consecutive year, small businesses across the Algoma area will be organized around the event established as a counterpoint to the big box stores’ well-known Black Friday events.
A “passport party” has become a local tradition, with numerous stops offering special deals and prizes. A Selfie Spot Sweepstakes is also part of the mix.
More details can be found at the 2018 Algoma Area Chamber Small Business Saturday Passport Party Facebook page.
American Express created the concept of Small Business Saturday in 2010 and has even trademarked the term, and local businesses have embraced the idea.
