The Algoma Chamber of Commerce and Algoma Library Friends welcome New York Times Bestseller Michael Perry to the Algoma Concerts in the Park stage on Wednesday, July 12. Attendees of the Farm Technology Days show and community members are invited to attend music/variety show by Perry and his band The Long Beds.

With their signature “rough neck country” and “country folk” sound, Perry and the band will tell tales of being a small-town volunteer firefighter/EMT, intermittent pig farmer, dairy farmer, father and more.

The concert begins with a 6 p.m. performance by Jeff Stoeger, followed by Perry’s band at 7 p.m. at Heritage Park at the City Marina in Algoma.

Perry’s bestselling memoirs include Population 485, Truck: A Love Story, Coop, and Visiting Tom. His first book for young readers, The Scavengers, was published in 2014 and first novel for adult readers, The Jesus Cow, was published in May 2015.

He lives with his wife and two daughters in rural Wisconsin, where he serves on the local volunteer fire and rescue service and is an intermittent pig farmer. He hosts the nationally-syndicated “Tent Show Radio.”
