The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a beach hazards statement for the beaches of Kewaunee County, which is in effect through Friday morning.
High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions expected because of persistent southwest winds gusting up to 22-24 mph and bringing waves of 3 to 5 feet to the Lake Michigan shore of Kewaunee County from this evening through Friday morning, resulting in dangerous swimming conditions.
The statement includes Crescent Beach in Algoma (pictured) and the City of Kewaunee Beach.
High wave action makes swimming difficult as waves on the Great Lakes occur in rapid succession. High wave action also leads to strong currents.
A beach hazards statement was already in effect through Friday morning for Door County beaches along the lake.
