The Kewaunee County Board on Tuesday (Aug. 20) accepted a $35,000 donation from the Zoological Society of Kewaunee County Inc.

Under the donation agreement, the society will be responsible for building the new house for deer, goats and sheep, which will belong to the county upon completion. The WPS Foundation is the major sponsor of the project.

It’s among a number of improvements planned for the zoo, most notably a pheasant exhibit that will house at least 20 species. Fundraising is ongoing for that project, which is part of the zoo master plan. For more information, visit

Pam Zander and Alex Stodola, representing the Zoological Society board, thanked the board for its support and invited supervisors to the ninth annual Zoobilee at Bruemmer Park, a fundraising event scheduled for Oct. 5.
