Candidate forums are scheduled in September for the state Senate and Assembly races affecting Kewaunee County this fall.

The Door County League of Women Voters announced this week that it plans to hold three separate candidate forums prior to the Nov. 6 general election, covering the 1st Senate District, 1st Assembly District, and Door County Sheriff.

State Sen. Caleb Frostman, D-Sturgeon Bay, and the winner of the Aug. 14 Republican primary between Rep. Andre Jacque and Bill Nauta are scheduled to meet in a forum from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 22 in the Southern Door Community Auditorium inside Southern Door High School, 2073 County Road DK, Brussels.

State Rep. Joel Kitchens, R-Sturgeon Bay, and his independent opponent, Baileys Harbor Town Board Supervisor Rebecca Thelen, will meet 6:30-8 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Sturgeon Bay City Council Chambers at City Hall, 421 Michigan St., Sturgeon Bay.

The League urges voters to save the dates for these forums for a chance to meet the candidates and learn their views regarding issues important to their districts.
