People who had hoped to ride in the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore bike tour in June are invited to ride in a 2020 virtual event instead.

The 2020 BayCare Clinic Century was to have taken place June 6. It was canceled in April because of concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a normal year the ride offers 100-, 60-, 30- and 15-mile options. Cyclists of all ages and abilities can enjoy an adventure tailored for them. The 100-mile riders experience it all, biking from along the waters of Green Bay to Lake Michigan and back, going Bayshore to Lakeshore.

Here’s how the 2020 Virtual BayCare Clinic Century ride works:

• Anyone can ride

• Ride your bike anywhere, anytime during the first week of June

• Practice social distancing while doing so

• Stop and take selfies along the way

• Share them with BayCare Clinic using their custom Facebook photo frame (click the update button on your profile picture; click on the option to add a frame; search for our 2020 Virtual BayCare Clinic Century frame, then update your profile picture), and post your photos to social media using the #2020VBCCC hashtag

“We want to encourage everyone to continue riding their bikes, whether around the block, staying close to home, or going longer distances as they would have in the BayCare Clinic Century,” said Ann Seidl, event director and director of marketing and public relations for BayCare Clinic. “Our route maps and training guides will remain on our website for your use throughout the year.”

The 2020 virtual ride is part of the BayCare Clinic Bikes wellness initiative. BayCare Clinic Bikes promotes cycling as a healthy, family-friendly activity. Efforts are aimed toward increasing bicycling and advocating for cycling safety throughout northeastern Wisconsin.

Proceeds from the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore bike tour benefit the BayCare Clinic Foundation, which supports causes and organizations that help provide improved health and livelihood to the people of northeastern Wisconsin.
