The Algoma Youth Club, Algoma Kindness Matters movement, and the Algoma Chamber have teamed up to bring back an Algoma community tradition – caroling and celebration – that has been lost through the years.
All residents of Algoma are invited on Wednesday, Dec. 20, to the Youth Club, 620 Lake St., for jingle bell bracelet making and a cookie exchange, starting around 6 p.m.
Crews of carolers will depart at 6:30, focusing on home of nominated homebound people and the local nursing homes. After routes are complete, all are invited back to the Youth Club for more cookies, hot chocolate and family fun.
Wednesday December 20th was chosen specifically to celebrate International Kindness Day (Dec 19th) and the Algoma Kindness Matters movement. Kindness Matters was inspired by the 7th grade class at Algoma Middle School who wanted to acknowledge and reward fellow students for their acts of kindness.
Nominations of homebound residents who might appreciate a visit from carolers are still being accepted. Call 920-487-2041 or email firstname.lastname@example.org with the name and address of the nominee.
