Friends of Crescent Beach in Algoma want to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the beach’s boardwalk by raising $15,000 to create “a revolving capital fund for boardwalk improvements with the goal to keep it viable for the next 25 years.”

The boardwalk was dedicated June 22, 1996, and remains a popular amenity for residents, beach users and tourists. The Friends group provided the first $1,000 toward its goal and intends to match the next $1,000 in donations as well.

Donate in someone’s name as a holiday gift and receive a donation certificate by emailing focb@lnrp.org.

Donations can also be made out to Algoma Parks and Rec and mailed to Friends of Crescent Beach, P.O. Box 344, Algoma, WI 54201. Write Crescent Beach Boardwalk on the memo line. Amounts received by check will be recorded as part of the fundraising total.

Money donated to this campaign will be donated to the City of Algoma Parks and Recreation Department and will be kept in a specific fund for boardwalk use only. Primary projects include updating garbage and recycling receptacles, replacement of lamppost bolt covers, and basic maintenance of the boardwalk.
