Third Annual Super Reunion: Multiply Your Fun by Reminiscing with Area-Wide Alumni from the 1930s Through the Most Recent Grads
Hundreds are expected to gather for Alumni Fest, Saturday, July 21, for the third year in a row. Alumni from area schools as far back as 1935 to more recent grads come from across the country for this multi-year reunion fest.
The idea was the brain child of David Burke, a Kewaunee High School graduate, who thought it would be fun to get together with all his friends from high school who spanned different years and schools. After all, in a small town you have friends in multiple classes before and after you, and through sports or intramural clubs, friends in neighboring towns. Why not try to have a reunion for all in the area? With a small note in the local paper, a committee of Kewaunee alumni was formed in 2015, to plan the event. But would it be successful? Hundreds of alumni from the class of ’35 all the way up through classes of the ‘90s made their way to the Alumni Fest.
Alumni (and the public) from area schools are once again invited to reunite with friends at Lakehaven Hall in Kewaunee, and enjoy the music, food, fun and do some good for area charities. The event starts at noon and goes through 10 p.m., with three bands that cater to a variety of musical tastes from polka to classic rock to a more modern rock era. Fresh kolaches made by alumni will be for sale until gone. New this year is a milk bottle tournament. The admission price – FREE. Of course, donations are always accepted.
Everyone is encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to benefit the Lakeshore Food Pantry. For every food item donated or $1 given, one raffle ticket will be earned for a chance to win great door prizes. The Kewaunee Fire Department Auxiliary benefits from the proceeds of the food and beverage sales.
