The County Board voted unanimously Tuesday (Feb. 11) to accept the donations from Gerald and Tammy Barta and the FTD committee – of which their son was a member – and an agreement to build the facility in memory of the late assistant manager of Rio Creek Feed Mill, who died at 35 in 2018 after a three-year battle with cancer.

The $105,000 project is expected to be open in time for the 103rd Kewaunee County Fair, scheduled for July 9-12.

The board approved a $15,000 transfer from the fairgrounds segregated funds set aside in previous years to cover the costs of site preparation for the new building. The donations cover the actual construction of the 56-by-80-foot pavilion with 14-foot eaves.
