Representatives of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region and Lunda Construction have scheduled a construction update meeting to give the public an opportunity to learn firsthand more about the State Highway 42 reconstruction project that is scheduled to begin in a few days.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday at Kewaunee City Hall, 401 Fifth St., Kewaunee.
Crews will be rebuilding the highway from Miller Street to Duvall Street within the Kewaunee city limits, starting in early August with a scheduled completion in October.
According to a letter mailed to affected homeowners, the improvements include milling and resurfacing of the existing asphalt pavement; deck overlays and epairs to bridges over the Kewaunee River and Ahnapee State Trail; sidewalk and curb ramps; spot improvements for storm sewer, curb and gutter, and lighting; signing and pavement marking.
The work is expected to be completed with the roadway open to traffic, but there will be single lanes at the bridges with temporary signals, shoulder closures, and flagging operations.
