The Great Kewaunee County Holiday Light Contest is back, as homeowners and business owners alike tap into their inner Griswold to find the best local displays of holiday cheer.

The contest co-sponsored by the three chambers of commerce is taking entries through Thursday (Dec. 6), and then it’ll be up to the public:

This is a fun, family-focused event to encourage us to travel down new roads, marvel at other’s creativity and show out of town folks the pride we have in our communities.

Unlike other light contests, we are adding our own little twist. Instead of a panel of judges, we will open up voting to the public! Maps and an online poll will be available at 5PM on Friday, December 7th through Thursday December 20th at 10PM. Winners will be announced Friday December 21st.

Unlike last year, when the award by categories, all locations – homes, businesses, etc. – are in one general pool this year. One winner will be chosen from the Luxemburg area, Kewaunee area, and Algoma area. Areas will be assigned based on location and participation at the discretion of organizers.

One Grand County Champion also will be chosen.

Participants may use the theme (Winter Wonderland) for inspiration but it is not required.

Winners will receive $50 in WPS Energy Credits and a sign for their yard.
