Local racing legend Jerry Muenster is among those being honored Friday night at the Luxemburg Speedway’s Hall of Fame Night.
Muenster will be inducted along with the Tri-Star Promotions Group of Kelly and Debbie Hafeman and Ralph Achenbrenner.
“The adrenaline gets going when you get out there and I love the competition, I like the guys that we’re running with,” Muenster said during a Thursday morning interview on WFRV-TV Channel 5 in Green Bay. “It’s like someone who likes to go fishing, they do it because they love it – I love racing.”
Now 76, Muenster has been racing at local tracks since 1960. Local author Joe Verdegan will be at the track to introduce Muenster and the other inductees.
The Speedway also has a collaboration with Families of Children with Cancer for this Friday night, via Becca Thiry, a 15-year-old driver in her second season of racing who has been using her presence at the track to raise money throughout the year to support childhood cancer research.
Racing features, which start at 7 p.m., include the John Soukup Memorial Sport Mod Race and the Quietwoods RV Stock Car Special. Pits open at 4:15 p.m., and the grandstands open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $12, $10 for seniors, $8 for teens 13-17, and children 12 and under are free.
