The Kewaunee County Economic Development Corp. (KCEDC) has announced that board member Kim Larson has been chosen as the public-private partnership’s interim executive director and retained Bill Chaudoir as a consultant as the organization continues to reshape itself.

KCEDC board president Lynie Vincent was scheduled to update the Kewaunee County Board on recent developments when supervisors meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 9) at the county Administration Center, 810 Lincoln St., Kewaunee.

In a press release, the organization said:

Larson has been an integral part of the organization executive committee over the last year and has stepped up to fulfill the need of an Interim Executive Director.  As the Interim Executive Director, her primary focus will be to lead the search effort with the board of directors to name a permanent Executive Director with extensive background in economic and community development.

Larson has over 25 years experience working with a wide range of businesses to launch new initiatives and to help them grow, through branding and marketing campaigns, as CEO of Larson-Marvine. This includes launching a division of Aon Risk Technologies, as well as working with startup companies in high-tech, bio-tech, healthcare, financial consulting, and craft brewing sectors. Prior to launching Larson-Marvine, she was Director of Design for ABC/WLS-TV in Chicago. She has worked with many not-for-profit organizations and local government organizations. She and her husband, and partner have vacationed for more than 30 years in the area. They decided to move their business here two years ago, and live on a family farm just north of Algoma. Her family has businesses in Kewaunee and Algoma that they worked to launch, the Barnsite Retreat and Events Center and Clay on Steele, respectively. She is passionate about the advantages of the wonderful work/life balance that this area offers and looks forward to continue the work she began many years ago to help businesses launch, thrive and grow in the county.

KCEDC has also retained Bill Chaudoir as a consultant to the organization.  Chaudoir will be working with the organization to hire a new executive director and develop strategy.

Chaudoir is the retired Executive Director of Door County Economic Development Corporation and served in that role since the organization was created in 1989. Chaudoir’s history with the organization pre-dates the founding of DCEDC, as he served as a staff adviser to the Economic Development Taskforce of the Door County Board of Supervisors while a County employee with the Planning and Zoning Department. That Taskforce recommended the establishment of a countywide economic development organization to help the area deal with the economic downturn in Door County in the late 1980’s.  Bill has family ties to Kewaunee County and looks forwarded to consulting with KCEDC to hire a new director and to create a long term strategy for economic development.
