The newest member of the Algoma Police Department was sworn in at last week’s City Council meeting.
Kevin Schneider, a 1989 graduate of Menominee, Michigan, High School with an associate degree in criminal justice from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, was introduced by Kewaunee County Chief Deputy David Cornelius.
Schneider was in active service with the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years and spent another 16 years with the Wisconsin State Patrol. He’s a certified K9 handler and firearms instructor and is also experienced in tactical operations, Cornelius said.
Mayor Wayne Schmidt administered the oath of office to the new officer.
