Kewaunee County authorities continue their investigation into the death of a Milwaukee man whose body was found Friday (April 5) near Kadletz Road in the southern part of the county.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the man’s vehicle was found abandoned March 30 along the road, about a half-mile off state Highway 29. A search for the driver at that time was unsuccessful, and the vehicle was towed to Kewaunee.
On Friday the Milwaukee Police Department contacted the Kewaunee Sheriff’s Office regarding the missing owner of the abandoned vehicle. Deputies returned to the scene, expanded the search radius, and found the body.
“While the investigation is ongoing, this incident appears to be isolated, and there is no danger to the public,” according to the release from Sheriff Matt Joski.
An autopsy was to be conducted by the Kewaunee County coroner and the Sheboygan medical examiner.
The sheriff was getting assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation and Wisconsin State Crime Lab Crime Scene Response Unit.
UPDATE: The Sheriff’s Department said Monday that after the autopsy foul play is not suspected. The man’s name is not being released at the family’s request.
