The Kewaunee County Department of Human Services is looking for volunteers who can help give senior citizens and residents with disabilities a sense of independence paired with some good company for appointments, shopping and more.

In 2017, the Transportation Program in Kewaunee County provided over 1,300 rides for residents through the use of volunteers.

These trained drivers use their own vehicles and are reimbursed for mileage, unless a wheel-chair accessible van is requested, in which that vehicle is provided by Kewaunee County.

Volunteers must undergo screening, possess a valid driver’s license and have completed orientation of the Transportation Program.

Transportation is scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM, excluding holidays.

Suggested service rates paid to Kewaunee County by individuals needing transportation: Rides to local meal site $2; within city limits $5; within Kewaunee County $10; and adjacent counties $20 (Brown, Door and Manitowoc counties only).
