The Friends of the Kewaunee Lighthouse has scheduled free guided tours of the lighthouse, located at the east end of Harrison Street in Kewaunee, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday (Sept. 7).
Visitors will have the opportunity to walk through the entire structure, and then head up to the fog signal deck. At the top of the tower, tour guides will turn on the new L.E.D. light and explain the history of the beacon.
Although the event is free, donations will be accepted.
Following the tours at 1p.m., the Kewaunee Historical Society will have a formal dedication of the Fresnel lens that is on display at the History Center, 217 Ellis St., Kewaunee. Jake Heffernan will have a presentation on the Kewaunee Lighthouse and Fresnel Lens.
A free ice cream social and tour of the updated center will follow the presentation.
