A Kewaunee man was killed Thursday in an industrial accident at Klemm Tank Lines in Howard.

The victim was Jason Vogeltanz, 36, of Kewaunee.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Department said a semi-tractor was stuck and the victim was trying to free it when he became pinned around 5 a.m. He died a short time later at a Green Bay hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. Lawrence Church in Stangelville, with visitation planned after 4 p.m. Friday at Buchanan Funeral Home, 1425 Ellis St., Kewaunee.

According to the funeral home:

He was born on Sept. 9, 1980, to Gary and Margaret (Sevcik) Vogeltanz.

He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1999. He then attended N.W.T.C and graduated in 2001 as a diesel mechanic. Jason worked for Klemm Tank Lines in Howard for the last 11 years.

He married Jamie Mueller on Sept. 24, 2005. Jason was a devoted husband, a loving father and a friend to many.

He was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Church, now St. Therese Parish. He loved farming and being on the family farm and maintaining farm equipment.

Survivors include his wife, Jamie; two daughters: Emily and Ashley and one son: Jacob; his parents: Gary and Margie Vogeltanz, Stangelville; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: James and Mary Mueller, Kewaunee; siblings: Brian Vogeltanz, Kewaunee; Scott (Lynn) Vogeltanz, Milwaukee; Wendy Vogeltanz, Denmark; Stacy Vogeltanz, Milwaukee, Amber Vogeltanz (Mark Yunk), Slovan; sisters-in-law: Amy (Tom) Riemer, Dyckesville; Robin Mueller (Larry Ostermeier), Kewaunee; nieces and nephews: Kara and Kyle (Godson) Vogeltanz; Kaleb (Godson) and Kenzi Yunk; Travis and Zach Riemer and one Goddaughter: Dezi Kalcik. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Sylvester and Margie Vogeltanz and his maternal grandparents: Charles and Marion Sevcik and one brother-in-law: James W. Mueller.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. A parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by Christal Wavrunek. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Saturday, March 11, until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Church, N2085 County AB, Stangelville, by Fr. Dennis Drury. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
