One of the rites of spring for high school senior athletes is announcing their choice of college and signing with their new school. Like most of those rites of spring, it’s not happening this year.
So James and Judy Cullen decided to send out a photo of their son James’ celebratory signing with St. Norbert College in De Pere, where he plans to participate in cross-country and track & field starting this fall.
James is a 4.0 student athlete of Kewaunee High School who will dual major in Psychology and Education. James was a four-sport athlete in track, cross-country, football, and basketball. He suffered an ACL tear his junior year in a football playoff game, but within six months was back running and qualified for track sectionals in the 1600 meter race, as well as, was first-team Packerland All-Conference in cross-country this past fall.
Academically he is a valedictorian of the KHS Class of 2020. He was accepted into the Honors Program at SNC and was chosen for a St. Norbert College Honors Program Paid Research Fellowship, as well as nine separate scholarships.
His Weather Warm-Ups charitable clothing drive earned an International Daily Points of Light Service Award, and he was recognized by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program and Wisconsin Assembly for community involvement and service.
James has received the Semper Fidelis Band Award and a Scholastic Excellence Award from the U.S. Marine Corps.
