The Kewaunee County Economic Development Corp. (KCEDC) and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) have announced the return of Ag Career Days on Oct. 17 and 18 at Kinnard Farms in the town of Lincoln.
Seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-grade students from Algoma, Denmark, Kewaunee, Luxemburg-Casco, and Southern Door school districts will participate in the two-day on-farm event that aims to offer an enriching student experience in agricultural career pathways, while reaffirming the significant role the agriculture industry plays in the local and national economy.
Featured careers include agronomy, milk testing, cheese making, cropping, animal nutrition, agriculture support services, robotics, business management, technology and many more. With opportunities to explore a wide-range of careers found in the agricultural field, Ag Career Days’ goal is to help area students begin to identify how their interests relate to potential future careers.
This is the first time Kinnard Farms has hosted the event.
“We want to expose students to a variety of careers in agriculture and are thrilled to host the event this year,” said Jackie Kinnard-Stewart, who leads the farm’s marketing and community events.
“NWTC is excited to continue to support Ag Career Days,” said Sarah Nelson, NWTC Regional Manager. “Making the connection between local careers and local education – both K-12 and post-secondary – will serve this county well.”
“KCEDC is committed to Ag Career Days and the opportunity to introduce future talent to a growing industry,” added Lynn Kroll of the KCEDC board. “We’re excited by the support the agricultural community has continued to show for this event.”
A variety of local businesses and organizations are supporting Ag Career Days, including Platinum sponsors Agropur, Brothers Dairy, Fabick Cat, Forest Construction Company Inc., Frank’s Feed Mill, GreenStone Farm Credit Services, John Malcore Livestock, Investors Community Bank, Kewaunee County Dairy Promotions, Kinnard Farms, Kozlovsky Dairy Equipment Inc., Lakeshore Dairy Services LLC, NWTC, Pribek Trucking LLC, Quali T, and Rio Creek Feed Mill.
