A luncheon and awards program to honor the achievements of northeast and east central Wisconsin students, teachers, and principals will be held Saturday, April 28, at Denmark High School.

The event is sponsored by the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation. It begins with a reception at noon with the awards program following at 1 p.m.

Among the honorees is Raymond Shaw, an Algoma High School student who has been named to receive an Initiative Scholarship from the Foundation.

Initiative Scholarship recipients, chosen by their schools, have demonstrated exceptional initiative in the classroom and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond, but have not yet received other academic-based scholarships.

The selection committee for the foundation is making awards in the amount of $6,000 to 100 teachers, 16 principals, and their schools, and $10,000 scholarships will be given to 191 graduating high school students around the state.
