The Luxemburg-Casco boys track and field team placed sixth among the 64 teams at the WIAA Division 2 state meet in La Crosse Friday and Saturday.
Sam Larson placed fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.12 seconds, a mere 0.3 seconds behind state champion Jackson Enz of Big Foot. Larson did even better in the 300m hurdles, taking second place in 39.23 seconds, again just behind Enz.
Larson made the podium with an eighth-place showing in high jump, leaping 6 feet 2 inches.
Tyler Suess earned third place in the 400m dash with 49.19. He missed the podium by 0.06 second in the 200m dash with a 23.09 second sprint, good for ninth.
The 4×400 relay team of Larson, Travis Kinnard, Marshall Paider and Suess finished fourth.
Hunter Liebeck was 12th in the 1600m run.
Mitch Kudick of Kewaunee placed eighth in the 800m run with a time of 1:57.30. The Storm’s Nick Baumgartner placed ninth in the pole vault.
Abby Baumgartner placed sixth in the girls 300m hurdles with a time of 47.00. The 4×400 relay team of Baumgartner, Angie Kudick, Brianne Barta and Gabriella Czech placed 15th in the preliminary heat and did not qualify for the final.
