The Luxemburg-Casco School Board has placed two referendum questions on the April 3 ballot.
Requests funding (not to exceed $15.9 million) for building additions, remodels and other improvements at the Primary, Intermediate and High School (which includes a three-station gymnasium).
Requests funding (not to exceed $11.9 million) for a new Middle School at the south end of the High School. This would accommodate relocating seventh- and eighth-grade classes from the existing Casco Middle School and utilizing it as an Alternative High School.
“These questions aim to address overdue needs of the District, and the Board believes our community is ready to support the safety, educational and athletic facility improvements the District needs to meet the high educational standards expected from its schools,” the district says in the introduction to a website with information about the referendum. “The plan being presented to voters on April 3 reflects fiscal responsibility for taxpayers, while meeting the needs of our students — current and future.”
