A town of Carlton man was killed Thursday evening (June 27) in a utility vehicle accident on the bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan.
A news release from Sheriff Matt Joski said the department was called to a Carlton residence at 7:06 p.m. after the 76-year-old man was trapped under the overturned UTV.
The man apparently had been driving the UTV along a trail adjacent to the bluffs when it went over the ledge and rolled over onto him, Joski said.
Because the site of the accident had limited access, units from Kewaunee Rescue, Carlton First Responders and the Kewaunee Fire Department worked together to retrieve the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Joski said the investigation into the accident is ongoing. The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
