Claire Thompson, community development educator with the Kewaunee County University of Wisconsin-Extension, has been announced as the new executive director of The Famory in Green Bay.

Thompson, who served the UWEX office in Kewaunee for more than 11 years, left after Friday, May 4.

“It has been such a pleasure and honor to work in Kewaunee County,” Thompson said in a post shared on Facebook. “I’ve learned so much from working with local entrepreneurs and farmers, the nonprofit organizations in our community, and our elected leaders. Thank you for everything you do to make this community a great place to live and work!”

Now, I’m ready for my next professional adventure where I’ll be working as the Executive Director of The Farmory in Green Bay. When you get a chance, come on down to see what it’s all about. Thank you again, and I look forward to our crossing paths in the future.”

The Farmory is an indoor aquaponics farm supporting low-income residents in the Green Bay area, located in an old armory building on Chicago Street.

Its mission is “transforming a historical building into an educational urban farm which will strengthen our community and encourage self-sufficiency through agricultural and entrepreneurial education and employment skill development.”
