Three counts of possession of child pornography were filed last week against a rural Casco man accused of downloading images of child porn and child erotica onto his cellphone.

Sean R. Evansen, 35, is being held in the Kewaunee County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bond, set after he was taken into custody after authorities executed a search warrant based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Evansen made his initial appearance on the charges Thursday (Sept. 27) in Kewaunee County Circuit Court, where Judge Keith Mehn scheduled a preliminary hearing for Oct. 18.

According to the criminal complaint, the NCMEC flagged “a significant amount of known child pornography” that had been uploaded via a picture-sharing application. The cellphone had about 2,000 digital files on it, and about 70 percent were images from the NCMEC warning, the complaint said.
