Farmers from Kewaunee County and across the area had an opportunity Tuesday to pick up a plastic bin for recycling their agricultural plastic.
The dumpsters were available through Tisch Mills Farm Center. Revolution Plastics provides the dumpsters and plastic pick-up service to farms who use ag plastic film. About 100 bins have been distributed to date through Kewaunee County and into Door County, according to Aerica Bjurstrom, agricultural agent with the University of Wisconsin-Extension.
“This company is providing the service to the farmers for free, keeping the plastic out of the fields and keeping it out of the landfill and keeping it from being burned,” Bjurstrom told the Kewaunee County Board this week.
The company thanked Kewaunee and Manitowoc counties specifically for their support and for helping connect farmers with the program, she said.
