Two people were injured, one seriously, Wednesday afternoon (July 10) in a two-vehicle collision at an intersection in the town of Red River.

Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski said rescue crews were called to County Roads AB and S at approximately 1:48 p.m. for an accident involving two vehicles with an occupant of one of the vehicles unconscious and trapped inside.

Units from Luxemburg Rescue, Luxemburg Fire Department and Lincoln/Casco First Responders responded to extricate the trapped victim and provide care to all of those involved, Joski said.

One patient was flown by the Eagle III medical helicopter to a facility in Green Bay with substantial injuries, the sheriff said.

Joski said the initial investigation determined that one of the vehicles, a 2006 Chevy Equinox driven by an 18-year-old Luxemburg woman, was traveling eastbound on County Road S and, after stopping at the stop sign at County Road AB, pulled into the path of a 1999 Dodge truck driven by a 43-year-old Luxemburg man traveling southbound on AB. Traffic on AB does not have a stop sign.

The accident remains under investigation by the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team, Joski said.
