The Manitowoc Bandits and Algoma Guins baseball teams square off this week in a best-of-three series to determine the 2019 Shoreland League champion.

The Bandits invade Perry Field in Algoma at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 14) and then host Game 2 at 7:30 p.m. Friday (Aug. 16) at Municipal Field. If a third game is necessary, it would be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Manitowoc.

The Guins, the defending league champion, finished in second place with a 9-3 regular-season record. In the semifinal series last week, they defeated the Denmark Devilbears 10-6 and 6-3 to advance to the championship round.

The Manitowoc Bandits, formerly part of the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League, joined the Shoreland this year after absorbing the former Two Rivers Polar Bears franchise. The Bandits won the regular season title with a 10-2 record. At the final league meeting of 2018, the Manitowoc Heat requested and were granted a one-year leave of absence and did not play in 2019.

The Bandits defeated the Green Bay Storm 5-4 and 17-3 in the semifinals.
