St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rankin, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary as a congregation this year, marks an even more profound anniversary Sunday with a 10 a.m. special service for the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation.

Guest preacher is the Rev. Dr. Thomas Feiertag, an online instructor in the Theology Department of Concordia University of Wisconsin. Music at the service will be provided by Concordia’s Kammerchor choir.

Following worship, a German meal (sauerbraten, pork, dumplings, sauerkraut, cabbage, dessert & beverage) will be served. Cost for meal is $10 for ages 13 and over. Others are free! Call 920-837-7292 to make a meal reservation.

St. John’s is also hosting a Mystery Dinner Nov. 11.

All items on the mystery dinner menu are written in code. Place your order for all five courses at the beginning, then sit back and see what you get! You may end up with dessert first, or have to eat your soup without a spoon. Either way, the church promises you’ll have fun and not leave hungry.

Proceeds from the mystery dinner will be used for the Board of Education’s scholarship fund, and the Health and Wellness Committee’s defibrillator fund.

Since the event will be held on Veterans Day, all veterans eat free. The prices are adults $10, youth $7, veterans and kids under 5 free.

RSVPs are appreciated! Here is a link to the church’s RSVP form.
