The director of government relations with the Wisconsin Farmers Union is the scheduled speaker in Algoma on May 15 as part of the ongoing Kewaunee County Dialogue Series.
Kara O’Connor plans to share the WFU’s efforts on a number of issues facing residents of the area, especially family farmers. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 15 at the Hotel Stebbins, 201 Steele St., Algoma.
“The sooner we can marshal the community and political will necessary to challenge entrenched special interests and embrace new solutions that enhance both farm profitability and soil and water quality, the sooner we will begin to restore vitality to our rural communities,” O’Connor said.
The Kewaunee County Dialogue Series is a free nonpartisan event hosted by the Democratic Party of Kewaunee County.
“The topics Kara will cover are important to all Kewaunee and Door residents,” said party chairperson Mimi Dobbins. “We all should support fair trade. We all should be concerned about agricultural consolidation and how it is harming family farms and, ultimately, our communities.”
