Nine teams of students from the Algoma School District are in Stevens Point this weekend for the Wisconsin Destination Imagination Affiliate Finals Tournament.
One team each from St. Mary School, St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Luxemburg-Casco School District also qualified for the state tourney.
Wisconsin DI describes the event at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point as “a gathering of over 7,000 creative problem-solvers. Wisconsin Destination Imagination is a nonprofit, volunteer-led, cause-driven organization whose mission is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and leaders. Annually, we offer a standards-based Challenge Program that focuses on a variety of subjects including Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Improv, Visual Arts, Service Learning, and Early Learning. The Affiliate Finals Tournament is the statewide gathering of the best teams in Wisconsin.”
Teams that earn a first or second place in Stevens Point advance to the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee, May 24-27.
