Nearly two dozen high school students from Algoma, Kewaunee and Luxemburg-Casco on Wednesday learned about the inner workings of local government in Kewaunee County during “Youth Government Day.”

Throughout the course of the day, elected officials provided insight on their roles and gave tours of their offices.

This was the 54th year of the program sponsored by the American Legion Posts and Auxiliaries of Kewaunee County: Ernest Haucke Post 236, Algoma; Thibaudeau-Drossart Post 319, Casco; Robinson Post 538, Carlton; Kewaunee Post 29, Kewaunee; and Ralph Kline Post 262, Luxemburg.

The program is designed to teach students about the inner workings of local government and encourage them to become well-informed and active citizens of the community.
